National Childrens Activity Week 2006 - Fun for all Seasons
The 13th National Childrens Activity Week took place from the 9th to 15th October.......
9th to 15th October 2006
The 13th National Children's Activity Week, created by Tumble Tots and supported by Tixylix, took place from 9-15 October 2006, encouraging children all around the country to have fun, keep fit and join in a year long action adventure.
National Children's Activity Week was designed to remind families about the vital importance of enjoying recreational exercise right from the outset and is backed by one of Britain's best known female athletes, Olympic Gold Medalist and mother of three, Sally Gunnell.
Latest statistics issued by the NHS1 have shown that childhood obesity rates have doubled in the last 10 years and one in four children are now obese. Sally Gunnell explains, "These statistics are the combined result of poor diet and lack of exercise. It is really important that recreational exercise is encouraged in the home from an early age and by going to groups such as Tumble Tots, in order for our kids to have the best chance of growing into healthy and fit young adults. National Children's Activity Week gives children and parents all across the country simple, fun and effective ideas in order to build a spirit of family fitness and an engrained understanding of its importance."
Tixylix, the children' medicine brand which has been taking care of cough and cold symptoms for generations of kids, has worked closely with Tumble Tots to develop a bright and engaging leaflet and wall chart, entitled 'Fun for all Seasons'.
'Fun for all Seasons' is packed full of exciting and fun physical activities that parents can enjoy with their kiddies to keep them strong, fit and full of life, whatever the season, summer, winter, spring or autumn, and has been distributed to Tumble Tots all across the country.
Tumble Tots activity centres hosted extra Tumble Tots sessions during National Children's Activity Week for its 60,000 members to encourage babies, children and their parents to get into the active habit.
