The Importance of Reading
Reading is a valuable key skill that underpins many others.
We send our children to school to lay a foundation of key skills and experience that they may call on for the rest of their lives. Other important abilities depend on this foundation for support. In its absence a child may never reach their full potential or explore their natural talents.
Reading is a valuable key skill that underpins many others; it expands vocabulary allowing children to develop better written and verbal communication skills. With an improved vocabulary children fit in better and make friends more easily. Improved spelling and written work will give students more confidence in their work and can help improve self esteem.
Starting children reading at a young age builds good habits for later in life. There are many other forms of media that are used for teaching that have more immediate appeal including instructional online videos and educational software. However, reading stimulates a child’s imagination and creativity better than these methods. A reader will generate their own mental picture from the text of a book that will be unique to them, rewarding them for their investment of time and increasing their satisfaction.
Remember, when children are young, Make learning fun - Pauline Earles, author of 'The Petal People' books.
Encourage your child to read with the Tumble Tots Ten Little Fingers book. Children will love joining in with the words and following the actions to the 10 body identification rhymes contained within the book. There's lots of fun to be had while you help your child to develop co-ordination and motor skills, and learn first words. And as a special offer until the 15th March 2009 you can purchase 'Ten Little Fingers' for just £2.99, saving you £3.00!
