This year Tumble Tots celebrates its 45th anniversary, and we still can’t quite believe that our brightly coloured equipment and iconic action songs have been enjoyed by over 2 million children since our doors opened in 1979! We are proud to say that while the world has changed a lot over the past 45 years, our fun physical play programme still stands the test of time and is loved by parents, children and our franchisees alike.

To celebrate this milestone in style, we invited our network of Franchisees and their teams to join us at our Birthday Bonanza on Sunday 30th June 2024. The day was a mix of conference-style learning, including a fantastic interactive session led by our guest speaker, Early Years Physical Activity Expert Philippa Youlden, and party games including Tumble Tots Music Bingo to get everybody on their feet and dancing!

David Hunt, Managing Director of Tumble Tots (UK) Ltd, delivered a speech recognising the achievements of both Head Office and our Franchisee network over the last 45 years, and gave us a brief history of Tumble Tots, created by former British Olympic gymnastics coach, Bill Cosgrave. Bill identified that children coming to his gymnastics lessons were not equipped with the necessary fundamental movement skills to take part – such as agility, balance and co-ordination – and therefore developed special classes to teach children these basic but important skills, prior to moving on to do gymnastics. This then evolved into the progressive physical play programme that we know and love today, teaching far more than just agility and climbing, but also ‘Skills for Life’.

It was wonderful to celebrate this milestone with Franchisees from all over the UK – everybody made new friends, enjoyed a delicious lunch, and raised a glass to 45 years of Tumble Tots!
