Every year we celebrate ‘Healthy Heroes Week’ to help promote the importance of physical exercise in children. Attending fun classes like Tumble Tots will instil children with a positive association to physical activity. The earlier we establish this, the healthier and happier they will grow up.
This year we have teamed up with Sport, Health & Education Consultant, Philippa Youlden, to bring little ones a host of engaging activities that they can take part in during our fun-filled theme week in classes, or at home.
The tasks will encourage children to practice a range of physical abilities, developing both their movement qualities and competencies of agility, balance, climbing, and coordination. These movements include jumping, rolling, balancing, weaving, and crawling.
We are also encouraging the Healthy Heroes to develop their language and communication skills through listening to instructions and using different movement vocabulary.
The activities encourage the use and development of creative skills including storytelling, imagination, role play and character development, and a whole variety of thinking skills such as planning, decision making, cooperating and reflecting.
Role play is an important part of child development, as it builds confidence, creativity communication, physical development and problem solving.
Along with being a fun activity, it also allows children to get into character and act out real life roles or fictional performances.
It encourages children to take risks and be creative with the role they are playing.
As part of Healthy Heroes Week, we are inviting children, parents and staff to dress up as a super hero!
It could be a classic favourite or completely made up (maybe even a villain!)
Imagination aids in the development of social, emotional, creative, physical, lingual, and problem-solving skills in children.
These are important skills to develop in early childhood, as they can be good markers for understanding a child’s overall development. But mostly, playing pretend is fun for kids.
Join us as we use our imaginations to pretend that rabbits are stealing all the healthy fruits and vegetables in the town.
We must us our super agility, balance, climbing and co-ordination skills to rescue the food before the rabbits eat it all.
