National Children’s Activity Week (or NCAW for short) is a campaign held every October in Tumble Tots classes across the country to highlight the importance of physical activity for children. This year NCAW will be from 10th October but please check with your local franchisee for regional dates.
Guidance from the Chief Medical Officers in the UK states that children under the age of 5 years should be physically active for at least 180 minutes (3 hours) every day. But according to recent studies, only 11.1% of 2-4 year olds are achieving this.*
A Tumble Tots class contributes 45 minutes to a child’s daily recommended amount of physical activity, which equates to 25%. But even after classes, children still need to be active for an additional 2 hours and 15 minutes and on days when little ones don’t attend classes, 3 hours can seem like a lot to achieve.
In National Children’s Activity Week 2022, Tumble Tots will be spreading awareness of the need for preschool children to be more active for their health and happiness.
Anyone can join in with National Children’s Activity Week as Tumble Tots have put together a handy guide full of ideas on ways to help keep little ones active whether they attended classes or not.
In classes, Tumble Tots Members will be given the chance to take part in all sorts of different activities and exercises to give them the knowledge and confidence to reach the daily recommended activity levels beyond sessions.
