Every year Tumble Tots celebrates ‘Healthy Heroes Week’ to help promote the importance of physical exercise in children.
But this year, we are also highlighting the importance of eating 5 different fruits and vegetables every day, as well as being physically active, as part of an overall healthy lifestyle.
Fruits and vegetables are a good source of vitamins, minerals, fibre, and other nutrients which children need help them grow physically and develop cognitively.
They are also usually low in fat and calories which is why eating them can help maintain a healthy weight. Almost all fruit and vegetables count towards your 5 A Day, so it may be easier than you think to get your recommended daily amount.**
Little ones can take part in ‘Healthy Heroes Week’ in Tumble Tots classes OR from home by downloading our activity pack.
The pack contains useful information about getting 5 A Day, an exclusive competition to take part in and a wall chart to help record little one’s progress as well as encourage them to keep eating fruit and vegetables throughout the year!
In classes, littles ones are invited to dress up as a super hero and are provided with a mask template to decorate themselves. To join in the fun near you from 6th March 2023 in centres across the UK***, click here to .
Almost all fruit and vegetables count towards your 5 A Day, so it may be easier than you think to get your recommended daily amount. But did you know that potatoes don’t count?
Children should also eat at least 5 portions of a variety of fruit and vegetables a day. The amount of food a child needs varies with age, body size and levels of physical activity. As a rough guide, 1 portion is the amount they can fit in the palm of their hand.
